My favoutite museums in Lisbon

With Spring and Summer just around the corner looking for a good place to escape in the hottest days seems a natural thought.

Either are you a tourist, a traveller or just you’re just looking for knowing more of your city, there are some museums that you should always see in every city you go. And Lisbon is no exception.

Today I’ve made a short list of my favourite museums in Lisbon, the ones that you should always go & visit.

1. Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga (MNAA)

This is, without a doubt, my favourite museum in the city!

Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga

Created in 1884, this museum is the home to the most important Portuguese public collection of art, ranging from paintings to sculpture, and gold and silverware, as well as decorative arts from Europe, Africa and the Far East.

It is very beautiful, it is not expensive and totally worth it!

2. Museu Nacional de História Natural e da Ciência

This museum is a composed by several museums (Science Museum and Natural History Museum) and other amazing spaces like the Lisbon Botanical Gardens and the Lisbon Astronomical Observatory.

3. Museu da Eletricidade

The Museum of Electricity is a cultural center that presents a concept of industrial base Science Museum, where live side by side thematic and experimental exhibitions, with great diversity of cultural events.

It is located in the Belém district where we find the Monastery of Jeronimos, the Belém Cultural Centre, the Belém Tower, the Monument to the Discoveries, the Coach Museum and the National Cordage.

If you have time you should also check: Museu Nacional dos Coches and MUDE (Museu do Design e da Moda).
